Union United Golf Tournament was a Success!
  The Inaugural Union United, Inc. Golf Tournament, sponsored by Nehawka Bank, was held this last weekend at Grandpa’s Woods Golf Course in Elmwood, NE. Over 30 players participated in this 2-person team scramble with pin prizes at each hole, sponsored by Nehawka Bank; Marshall Funeral Home; Murray State Bank; AAA Rents & Event Services; VanderVeen & Goracke; Karen Kahland, NP Dodge; Quality Signs, Builders Supply; McDonald’s; No Frills Market; Valentino’s Pizza; Vidlak’s Bookside Café; Wal-Mart; Arby’s, Riverhouse Café. Over $1,600 was raised towards Union United’s goal of $6,000 community park improvement project.

Stray Cats Receive Medical Attention in Union
 Seven of Union's stray/abandoned cats were trapped and brought to Hearts United for Animals in Brock, NE to receive medical attention and be spayed/nuetered. Only one cat tested postitive for Feline AIDS. The other six cats were vaccinated, given antibiotics and sterilized before being released.
One out of seven cats testing positive for contagious disease is a huge improvement from having over 50% of the cats test positive in the previous months. For more information on how you can help Union's needy stray cat population, contact Mindy at
