Condolences to the Family of Jim Burbee
Wilford J. “Jim” Burbee was born April 2, 1932 in Union, the son of Louis and Alma (Frans) Burbee. He married Phyllis Marie Leiner March 7, 1958. Jim was raised in Union and surrounding rural areas. He attended Union High School and graduated in 1950. Jim worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Omaha for 20 years. Jim began farming land west of Union in 1980 and subsequently managed the family farm east of Union. He enjoyed farm auctions, watching sprint car races, hunting and fishing, and serving the Lord. Jim and his wife Phyllis have been pillars of the First Baptist Church in Union, where he was a lifelong member. At various times, he served as Deacon, taught Sunday school, mentored children and adolescents at Young People’s Group, and joyfully led the singing on Sunday mornings. Jim also had the responsibility of “other duties as assigned” which included improvements and general maintenance of the church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Burbee of Union, NE; brother, Dennis Burbee and his wife Jan of Santan Valley, AZ; sister, Elizabeth Reed of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Arnie Kreifels of Nebraska City, NE; aunt and uncle, Mary and Dean McFarland of Omaha, NE; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nellie Kreifels. Jim died February 22, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Lofte News!
Manley, NE [February 25, 2011] - The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley, NE is notifying our friends within the media of an exciting event which we feel would be worthy of your coverage. On March 16 through March 20, the Lofte will be playing host to the Nebraska Association of Community Theatre's Festival competition. There will be a total of ten community theaters from across the states of Nebraska and Missouri competing in a one-act play competition. This marks the largest number of registered participants in recent years. Winners earn the opportunity to advance to the American Association of Community Theaters Region V competition in Salina, Kansas in April.
