ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON:
Well, the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) have done it again! Over 60 people attended the annual Spring Luncheon. Many of the people attending have said that they always plan on this event every year because they enjoy it so much. The activities included a salad buffet, silent auction for the table decorations, decorated hat contest, raffle & Bingo.

The theme this year was birdhouses. There were 13 ceramic birdhouses painted by Deb McWha, Rose Hickey & Jean Ziegelbein, used as table decorations. There were 6 ladies that decorated hats & participated in the contest. The judges, Mary Ann Otte, Charlene Walters, & Roberta Tipton selected the contest winners based on originally & if they followed the theme. The winners were Patsy Sawyer, 1st place; Gladys Weston, 2nd place & Sharlotte Wadsworth took 3rd place. The raffle winners were Violet Perry of Nebraska City received the afghan crocheted by Marge Meredith; AM/FM radio went to Jeanie Kreifels of Nebraska City; Crock pot went to Betty Hoback of Union; & the ceramic wreath painted by Deb McWha went to Patsy Sawyer of Louisville. Congratulations to all the winners!

The ALA Officers that attended were Mary Ann Otte, Dept President; Roxanne Hiath, Dept Vice-President; Terry Walker, Dept Secretary-Treasurer; Charleen Walters, Dist 12 President; Barb Lyons, Dist 12 Vice-President; JoAnn Seick, Dist 12 Secretary/Treasurer; Shirley True, County President; Roberta Tipton, County Vice-President; & Kathy Day, County Secretary/Treasurer. 

The Conestoga Select Choir directed by Meri Meredith supplied the entertainment. The students sang songs from the 1960’s & up. As usual, they were excellent & the crowd loved them. Many thanks to Meri Meredith & her students.

Plan on attending next year & the theme will be birds so get started on your hats!

The Hat Contest participants were: Gladys Weston (2nd place), Helen Amick, Patsy Sawyer (1st place), Rose Hickey, Sharlotte Wadsworth (2nd place), & Evelyn Sachs.


The Conestoga Select Choir, directed by Meri Meredith, entertained the crowd with songs from the 1960’s & up.
