The Conestoga High School Choir really put on a great show! Each of the members sang solos of well-known songs mostly country music and one young lady, Jaime Wilson, even sang a song she wrote herself called “Happy For A Change”. The choir directed by Union’s own Meri Meredith, has entered several competitions & after enjoying their show, we can all see why they are such winners.

The silent auction was for the table decorations, which were ceramic, garden fairies, painted & donated by Deb McWha & Jean Ziegelbein. All the proceeds went to maintenance of the ALA Hall.
There are several people that made this event such a success. ALA Pres Helen Wolfe, Vice-Pres Elinor Mougey, Secretary Esther Kendall, Treasurer Ruth Lindsey, Chaplain Rose Hickey; and several other members too numerous to mention. As one of our guests said, “This is the one function everyone looks forward to attending each year because it is so much fun”. We are already making plans for next year.

DONATION TO RESCUE SQUAD:
Mike Krass, training officer & Elaine Bornemeier, Rescue Capt, from Elmwood Rescue arrived in Union to donate a gurney to our Union Rescue Squad. Robert Brown, volunteer Fire Fighter & Gaille Brown, Rescue Capt from Union were there to accept the generous gift.

The Elmwood Rescue Squad gifted a gurney to the Union Rescue Squad. From L to R:
Mike Krass, Elmwood Training Officer; Gaille Brown, Union Rescue Capt; Elaine Bornemeier, Elmwood Asst Chief; & Rob Kennedy, Union Fire & Rescue.

EASTER EGG HUNT:
The ALA sponsored the village’s Easter Egg hunt on April 10th. A total of 45 dozen eggs were distributed for the children to find & turn in for gifts donated by local businesses. It was hard to tell how many children were there as they were so excited and busy but we approximated 40 children. No one went home empty handed. Many thanks to Idonna Plybon who contacted the businesses & got everything arranged so the activity went smoothly.

As you can see, eggs were everywhere & so were the gatherers.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING:
The next neighborhood watch meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2004 at 6:30 pm in the fire station. We need as many as possible to attend so we can make our small town as safe as possible for all of our residents. If you need a ride, please contact the village clerk.
