SEWER PROJECT UPDATE:

Well, the contractors are almost done. They are putting in the rock around the entire area, erecting the chain link fence and will be seeding it soon. The area where they had all their equipment will also be leveled & seeded.

VILLAGE ORDINANCES:

Since summer has arrived, we must remind everyone that there are village ordinances against riding vehicles on our village streets that are not street legal. This includes dirt bikes, 3-wheel ATVs, 4-wheel ATV’s, golf carts, go carts, etc. If you are caught, you will be cited by law enforcement. Also, state law requires that if you are riding motorcycles, you are required to wear a helmet.

There has been some confusion about the 10 MPH speed limits posted around the ballpark & Todd Park. There was a village ordinance changing the speed limit from 25 MPH to 10 MPH passed a couple years ago. Law enforcement does not put up the signs as some people think. The village is required to put up all street signs including the speed limit signs. If you are caught speeding through these areas, you will be ticketed.

BAPTIST CHURCH:

The Baptist Church celebrated Mother’s Day by giving flowers to the mother with the most children & grandchildren. The honoree is Edna McDonald with 9 children & 23 grandchildren. They also gave flowers to the mother that traveled the farthest which was Diana Jantz. She is a missionary from Paraguay South America.

The summer bible school is scheduled to be held from July 19th to the 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 3 years to 7th grade at the Baptist church. The theme this year is “Jesus Helps You Powerup”. They will have a picnic the last day at the ballpark pavilion. If your children are interested in attending, please contact Phyllis Burbee @ 263-5735 or Karen Fritchle @ 873-5479 by July 12th.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST:

The Union Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their pancake breakfast on May 31st, Memorial Day. Come & enjoy pancakes, sausage, juice & coffee from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lake Waconda field house. All proceeds go to the Fire Department.
