Alumni Banquet:

The Union school Alumni Banquet was held at the Legion Hall Saturday, June 5, 2003 at 6:30 pm. A total of 82 former students or their family members attended this celebration. The oldest alumnus to attend is from the class of 1927 at 95 years young is Mildred Smith-Moritz who currently lives in Plattsmouth. The honored classes were 1934, 1944 & 1954.

As a bit of history, the first banquet was held in 1916 & was held at H.W. Frans property. There was no reunion held in 1918 due to contagious diseases and 1942-1945 due to the war. The reunions were resumed in 1946 & were held at the Arbor Lodge. This year’s celebration was the 85th Union High School reunion.

The theme this year was “Still Making History” and the American Legion Auxiliary members once again catered the banquet. This year Ben Eddy entertained the group by playing different showtunes on the piano.

This year the Alumni Board members were: Cliff Rogers, President; Barbara Garrens-Lechner, secretary; Vice-President Dale Draper, 2nd Vice-President Cecil Klein & Publicity Officer Gloria Dickman-Guthals. They are already planning the next banquet to be held the first Saturday in June 2005.
