NEW BUSINESS IN UNION:
There is a new business here in Union. On July 1st Ken & Athena Willeford opened Tender Paws Grooming Salon located beside the bank on Main St. Athena is a master groomer with more than 30 years experience in grooming dogs as small as Chihuahuas to as large as labs & cats without drugs. She not only does a wonderful job making your pet look good, she also treats them like her own with a lot of love & patience. I’ve spoken with several pet owners that have had their pets groomed there & all of have been more than satisfied with the results & plan on returning. So if you have a dirty dog or cat, give Athena a call.
STORM CLEANUP:
We are still cleaning up after the May 22nd storms. You may have noticed that several trees are sporting a white X. An arborist from UNL came here & after looking at several of the trees on the public right-of-way, determined that they are too badly damaged & need to be removed. We’ve been getting estimates from tree companies & will hopefully be able to get the work done soon. A new merry-go-around has also been ordered to replace the large one that had a tree fall on it in the ballpark and should be arriving soon. Will update as thing progress.
HEAT ALERT:
Well, summer has finally arrived and with that the heat & humidity. Please keep an eye on your children & pets and especially you neighbors. The heat brings a lot of problems that can quickly get out of hand. If you are working outdoors, drink plenty of water & take frequent breaks. Try not to work during the heat of the day. Watch your children closely. Once they start playing, they won’t notice the heat affecting them. And that also goes for your pets. They need shade & plenty of water on a constant basis. Some things to watch out for are not perspiring, chills, dizziness, & confusion. If you see any of these symptoms, get them in a cool area, give them small amounts of water & call a doctor or vet. The best thing that can be done is to pay attention.

This is the front of the new grooming salon that opened on July1st.

Athena pampers a Shih Tzu Otis, owned by Lily Wolfe.

Buttons, owned by Chris Keene, gets her first haircut & she seems to be enjoying the experience.

A toy poodle Angel, owned by Deb McWha, seems to know how good she looks. Too bad there wasn’t a before photo.
