VETERAN’S DAY SOUP DINNER:
The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion (ALA) is once again hosting one of their famous soup dinners. It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 14th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the ALA Hall on Main St. & they will serve until it’s gone. This is to honor the veterans’s that have given so much of themselves to defend our country. They will be serving homemade soups; chicken noodle with homemade noodles, vegetable beef, & chili. There will also be homemade desserts, & ham salad sandwiches. All veterans eat free and there is a small charge for others. Please plan on attending & saying thank you to our veterans.

UPDATE ON CELL TOWER:
The monthly meeting of the Village Board was held on Sunday, November 07, 2004 due to not enough board members available for the regular meeting. At this meeting, we approved & signed the Special Use Permit for Alltel to erect a Cell Antenna Tower approx. one mile east of Union. This antenna will clear up the “dead area” that many of the cell phone users experience. At this time, they weren’t able to tell us when the tower will be put up since we are coming upon winter. As soon as there is a date, we will let everyone know.

PARK COMMITTEE NEEDS MEMBERS:
The Union Park Committee is in need of some more members. At this time, five of us have been handling all of the responsibilities of keeping the parks in working order & fund raising. With all the children in town, we know there are more parents that can get involved to keep things running smooth. This committee does not take a lot of time, a couple hours a month, especially if we get some more members. Please watch for the signs for the next scheduled meeting & remember, this is all for our children.
