NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM:
At the last village board meeting Officer Tuttle from the Cass County Sheriff’s office discussed the benefits of a neighborhood watch program. Union has been experiencing a lot of vandalism, car thefts, and drug problems. Many people know about these problems and this program will give us the ability to do something about it before it gets out of hand and keep our community a comfortable place to live. The statistics prove that communities with a neighborhood watch program significantly reduces these crimes. Soon everyone will be getting a survey to fill out and this will be one of the items. Please be sure you are heard and fill out the survey.

MOTTO & SEAL:
We are interested in developing a motto & seal for our village. We do have village colors; they are Kelly green & white, but no motto. Our seal is very plain so we are also interested in developing a more decorative one. Start thinking about it & when you get the request in the mail, have your ideas ready. We are a small community but we also have a lot of historical values. If you need any information, talk to your neighbors, there is a lot of knowledge out there, you just need to ask. It’ll be interesting to see what is submitted.

THANK YOU:
The first Annual “Things that go bump in the night” party was a big success. There are a lot of people to thank for all of their help. For the donations of candy, a big thank you goes to Laura & Tim Hinze, Bob Harrah, Thumanns Tavern & Grille, Ken & Athena Willeford, Todd Irwin & the Union Park Committee. Lily Wolfe donated individual bags of chips, hotdogs & buns were donated by Bruce Merrill, Bill Bescheinen, Scott & Connie Kelsay, & Todd Irwin. The park committee donated popcorn & Roger Hoback was kind enough to pop & bag it. A special thank you to PGP Publishing for making all the copies for the coloring contest & posters used to promote this event. For their help in decorating & setting up, thank you go to Alicia Irwin, Korri Wolfe & Sashley Wolfe. And to the judges for the coloring & costume contests, Laura Hinze (also made the certificates for the winners), Todd Irwin, & Sashley Wolfe. All the children that attended had a great time & took home quite a large bag of goodies! I need to also thank DeeDee & David Brazzle & Gaille Brown for the goodie buckets. And last but not least, all the adults and fire & rescue personnel for coming to show their support.
Thank You once again,
Frankie Williams
