CORRESPONDENCE – The Clerk received grant agreement from NDEE for playground mulch cost share.

CLERK REPORT – ClerkBooks implementation is going well.  Clerk is still training on the system. 

Village Maintenance Report – Heyen reported 1,467,000 gallons of water metered and pumps ran for 249 hours. The lift station processed 672,000 gallons of waste water.  The new utility tractor needs a counter weight for lift function to work over 800 pounds. Heyen had to buy a JD block heater for the utility tractor. He was unable to attach the magnet heater properly, so he will be using it for the other equipment, as needed.

Fire/Rescue Report- NTR

New Business: 

Kason Cade was present to discuss the funds to outfit the new rescue squad.  Since the Nehawka Board has no quorum, and won’t until February, Nehawka Rescue is asking that the Village of Union pay for the order to stock the new squad, so they can get it up and running. The Village Board has already agreed to fund the outfitting of the squad up to $10,000, so Nehawka Rescue will order the supplies and have it billed to the Village.  Hill motioned to approve the outfitting of the new squad by paying for equipment and supply order in an amount up to $10,000. 2nd by Feek.  By Roll, Trustee votes as follows: Seyler – Aye, Feek – Aye, Fritschle – Absent, Ruby-Absent, Hill – Aye. Motion approved.

Chairman Seyler appointed Melissa Hansen as Village Clerk/Treasurer setting her wages at $20.64 per hour.  Chairman Seyler also appointed Steve Heyen as Village Maintenance at $20.00 per hour, Ric Ortmeier as Village Accountant, Olsson as Engineering Firm. Justin Stark, S-1534, class A on contract at Olsson for Street Superintendent, Health Board members Laura Hill and Cass Crook. Dale Hansen was appointed for a one-year appointment to the Planning Commission, Donna Ruby and Debbie Vidlak, 3rd year of a three-year appointment, Shawn Hoy and Dave Kendall 1st year of a two-year appointment.  Rush Chipman Law resigned as Village Counsel, leaving the position vacant.

Chairman Seyler awarded performance bonuses to Melissa Hansen at $750.00 and Steve Heyen at $350.00,

The Board reviewed and approved the quote from Core and Main to upgrade the handheld meter reading equipment.  The old handheld computer is experiencing some software and corruption issues.

Feek motioned to approve the commitment of ARPA Funds as follows, Olsson $14,000 contract to research water quality solutions to add to our WWAC Pre-Application for funding approval.  Approximately $6400 will go to purchase updated water meter reading equipment through Core and Main. $21,608, or the remainder of the Fund, will be spent in support of the Playground Installation Project with Cunningham Recreation and Play Core. 2nd by Hill. By Roll, Trustee votes as follows: Seyler – Aye, Feek – Aye, Fritschle – Absent, Ruby-Absent, Hill – Aye. Motion approved.
