MEETING MINUTES
MAY 13, 2021

Chairman Seyler called the monthly meeting for May to order at 7:01 pm at the Union Office at 500 Main St. The Open Meeting Laws were displayed for public reference.  On roll call:  Seyler – Aye, Vidlak – Aye, Crook – Aye and Ruby – Aye, Hill - Absent. 

Minutes of the April Board Meeting were reviewed. Ruby motioned to approve April Meeting Minutes.  2nd by Crook.   By Roll, Trustee votes are as follows:  Seyler – Aye, Vidlak – Aye, Crook – Aye, Ruby – Aye, Hill -Absent. Motioned approved.

Claims and Accounts were presented. Vidlak motioned to approve May Claims and Accounts.  2nd by Ruby.  By Roll, Trustee votes are as follows:  Seyler – Aye, Vidlak – Aye, Crook – Aye, but abstained from approving his pay, Ruby – Aye, Hill - Absent.  Motion Approved.

CORRESPONDENCE- Clerk received amendment to the Open Meeting Laws Act passed this legislative season to post until new poster is created and distributed.
CLERK REPORT – The clerk, Chairman Seyler and Steve Heyen met with Nate from Olsson to kick-off the water study.  The clerk and Heyen met to discuss and prepare information requested by Olsson to move forward with the water study.  The clerk email the statistics and information to Olsson.

Village Maintenance Report - Steve Heyen was present to report that the well pumps operated for 398 hours, pumping 1,925,000 gallons of water.  Lift station processed 1,536,000 gallons of wastewater, running for approximately 62 hours.  Heyen reported that he is still working on concessions stand bathrooms and hot water heater. Crook wants Heyen to extend hot water to the restroom faucets as well and plans to help Heyen over the weekend.
Heyen sprayed herbicide in the park and ballpark fields.
Fire Report- Captain Gerken was present to give fire report.  Rescue truck had two blowouts that caused minor body damage that will need repairs, and replaced all 6 tires. Four new recruits will be going through training and around 20 fire personnel will be in Grand Island for fire training.
Union United Inc. Report:  Union Clean up was a success.  The group noticed that there was not as much metal and electronic recycle dropped off this year.  New planters were purchased to replace the old ones on the street and will be planted soon.

NEW BUSINESS: Chairman Seyler and Trustee Ruby will inspect all areas of the streets that will require work. The current bid from Ryan Clark for $ 11, 510.00 only includes the concrete work on Birch and there are more areas that are compromised and will need bids as well. It is a possibility that these areas have water erosion from multiple water leaks occurring.  Ruby would like to see Steve Bescheinen tear out these areas, inspect for erosion issues and repair any leaks located prior to having Ryan Clark finish the streets and sidewalks. Vidlak motioned to approve Ryan Clark’s bid for the Birch job. 2nd by Ruby.  By Roll, Trustee votes are as follows:  Seyler – Aye, Vidlak – Aye, Crook – Abstained, Ruby – Aye, Hill - Absent. Motion approved.
Vidlak motioned to adjourn 7:30 pm. 2nd by Crook.  By Roll, Trustee votes are as follows:  Seyler – Aye, Vidlak – Aye, Crook – Aye, Ruby – Aye, Hill - Absent.  Motioned approved.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 9, 2021, 7 pm at the Union Fire Hall.  The Meeting Notice and Agenda will be posted for the public at the Village Office, the Union Junktion, and the Union Post Office by June 4th.
